The Attorney-General has released the refreshed National Identity Proofing Guidelines. Digital ID relies on these guidelines and aligns with them.

The updates have modernized Australian National Identity Proofing Guidelines and provide updated best-practice guidance for organisations to verify identities and combat fraud. 

Key updates include incorporating biometric proofing, like facial recognition, and aligning with Digital ID frameworks to improve consistency for both physical and digital identities. 

These voluntary, risk-based guidelines offer flexibility for public and private sectors to apply practices suitable for their specific identity-related risks.
